Today was a full day, separated into a morning and afternoon drive, of viewing the wildlife. Our day starts at 5:30 am with a coffee and a muffin of the like at 6, then on the road until 10am. We have a coffee break half way and a real breakfast when we return at 10, then we rest until 3 and off again until 8ish pm, with a sundowner on the road. A very busy day with temperatures starting at about 14 Celsius and close to 30 in the afternoon then right back down to 14 after sundown. Freezing cold in the jeep…much colder than I ever expected!
From the photos it’s difficult to comprehend how close to us these animals are. They walk right beside the jeep. The guide says they’re acclimatized to the jeep but, if we get out or stand up in the jeep, that’s a different story. They run off or? Needless to say, we obey the rules!
In Cape Town our guide had a bad cough and it seems I have contracted it. Either that or from the crowd at Table Mountain. I don’t think I’ll be going on the drive tomorrow but will post some photos that Ralph tales.
