Narooma

Leaving Canberra, we headed back out to the coast on our way to Melbourne.  First stop was a little town called Narooma.  This was a cute little place with a nice little restaurant on the water.

Enroute to our hotel, we stopped at a beach that said there were kanagroos running through the sand.  We didn't find that, but there was one lonely one on the grass...well, maybe not that lonely as there were lots of people photographing him/her?

I don't think there is one area of Australia that hasn't been burned at one time or another.  Here's a shot of the eucalypt forest as we have seen it...lots of burned trunks but the fire just seems to burn off the underbrush, grass, and the loose bark of the trees...but the tree keeps growing.

At our motel, we found this lorikeet that was soon joined by his mate.  They are just beautiful!

While at this beach, the weather was obviously changing and these are the clouds on the horizon.  We've seen some of the weirdest cloud formations here in Australia.

This is the nice little restaurant on the water...not cheap, but nice.  It was 'shed-like' with windows.  You could see through the floorboard into the water.

This little stingray was swimming below our window.

There was a beautiful sunset that night.

This is the car we've rented for our journey...some sort of Hyundai.  It's been good so far.

This is what the forest fire signs are like here...take a look at the ratings...they start about where ours finish off and go up from there!
