Great Ocean Road

South and west of Melbourne is the Great Ocean Road.  We had planned to first stay in Melbourne, but 'kind of missed it'...if that is possible.  We were going to stay outside and west of it but hadn't looked up motels on the internet...then, couldn't find any where we looked so just kept going.  We then spent a couple of days driving the coast, and returned to Melbourne after.  This is Split Point Lighthouse.

These are some of the limestone formations off the coast. Beautiful clear water here, but much colder than in the north.

Here we are at the '12 Apostles'...only there are 8 left...the rest are washed away.

Ralph liked this sign.  We saw this many times on this road, and thought it humorous in that...if you've gotten that far in Australia, you've probably figured this out...or you'd be dead!

Some of the most beautiful coastline we've seen.

On part of the drive, we headed through the eucalypt forest and came upon some koalas in the wild.

It was really exciting to see them in the wild, rather than in a zoo.

A mother and her baby...they are marsupials, like kangaroos...who knew??

This one was really funny in that it was on a long branch hanging right over the middle of the road, with all the cars passing underneath.
